Time - resolved , multi - color photometry and spectroscopy of Virgo 4 ( OU Vir ) : a high orbital inclination , short orbital period dwarf nova

چکیده
We present multi-color photometry and time resolved spectroscopy of OU Vir. The analysis of the quiescent light curve shows that OU Vir is characterized by i) strong cycle-to-cycle brightness variations, and ii) hot spot modulated light curve with grazing eclipse of the impact region. Colors are derived both in-and out-of eclipse. The time-resolved spectroscopy allows us to produce the radial velocity curve from the Hα accretion disk emission line which possibly reveals only weak evidence for hot spot line emission. The hot spot is believed to be a turbulent optically thick region, producing mostly continuum emission. Key words. dwarf novae – multi-color photometry – time resolved spectroscopy – OU Vir

The Long-Period Orbit of the Dwarf Nova V630 Cassiopaeia
We present extensive spectroscopy and photometry of the dwarf nova V630 Cassiopeiae. A late-type (K4-5) absorption spectrum is easily detectable, from which we derive the orbital parameters. We find a spectroscopic period of P = 2.56387±4×10 days and a semiamplitude of K2 = 132.9 ± 4.0 km s . The resulting mass function, which is a firm lower limit on the mass of the white dwarf, is then f(M) =...
متن کاملAd Mensae: a Dwarf Nova in the Period Gap
1 AD Men has been classified as a probable long–period dwarf nova based on its long–term variability. Recent spec-troscopic data instead suggested a short–period system. With the here presented observations we aim at clarifying its nature. Time–resolved photometry and spectroscopy has been used to get information on the orbital period of this system. The light curve shows the typical flickering...
متن کاملHE 2350 - 3908 : a dwarf nova with a 78 m orbital period ?
We present time resolved CCD photometry and spec-troscopy of the cataclysmic variable HE2350-3908 discovered in the Hamburg/ESO survey. We find that the orbital period of this source is 78.2 min. This is the shortest orbital period known to date for a cataclysmic variable with a normal hydrogen-rich secondary. The optical spectrum and the orbital light curve of HE2350-3908 is very similar to WZ...
متن کامل1 High spectral resolution time - resolved optical spectroscopy of V 893
We present high resolution time-resolved optical spectra of the high inclination short orbital period dwarf nova V893 Sco. We performed spectral analysis through radial velocity measurements, Doppler mapping, and ratioed Doppler maps. Our results indicate that V893 Sco's accretion disk is dissimilar to WZ Sge's accretion disk, and does not fit any of the current accretion disk models. We derive...
متن کاملTime resolved spectroscopy and photometry of the dwarf nova FS Aurigae in quiescence ⋆
We present results of non-simultaneous time resolved photometric and spectroscopic observations of little-studied dwarf nova FS Aur in quiescence. The spectrum of FS Aur shows strong and broad emission lines of hydrogen and He I, and of weaker He II λ4686 and C III/N III blend, similar to other quiescent dwarf novae. All emission lines are single-peaked, however their form varies with an orbita...
